Motel Thanh Long

A good night's sleep, with clean, quiet rooms and basic amenities. The owners were really friendly, and it felt more like staying in someone's home than a commercial hotel. They were also flexible when I wanted to check in much earlier than planned. I'd recommend it if you want a break from the busy areas.

The bed was the one thing that didn't work for me. The mattress felt very hard, almost like sleeping on a table, and I left earlier than planned because it was too uncomfortable. That may just come down to personal preference, though. The place is clean, and the rooms look like the photos. They're minimal, with the essentials, but no iron, wardrobe, or hair dryer. My room had a roomy balcony and enough hot water. It's in a quiet area, about a five-minute walk to the beach if you turn right out of the motel. You can reach central Da Nang fairly easily, and there are convenience stores and cafes close by. I tried a smoothie at Kia coffee and beer, on a nearby side street. The couple who run the motel were nice and helpful. We had a language barrier since I don't speak Vietnamese, so Google Translate came in handy. The motel takes cash only, unless you pay online. Thanks to the wife for taking me to a nearby bank to withdraw money. For a short weekend or a few days, I'd recommend it if basic accommodation suits you. You could book a night or two first and see how you like it.

The family who run the motel were so friendly. My room was clean and roomy, with a fridge for keeping drinks cold. There's a volleyball court right beside the motel, where a local group plays. They welcomed me into their game, then invited me for beers and food afterward. It was hard to imagine a better stay or nicer people to spend time with.

It's an easy walk to the beach, and you can rent a motorbike here. The owner is very enthusiastic, and the room was decent for the price.
