Dérive Villa

I stayed for about three months and had a great experience. The staff were kind and helped with any questions or problems. My room was 302 on the third floor, with a lovely balcony view and everything I needed: a shower, stove, fridge, and especially a washing machine, which was handy for a long stay. It’s about a five-minute walk to the beach, in a quiet area with plenty of nearby cafés and small shops selling tasty, affordable food.

This was our third stay, and the location and friendly staff were great as usual. We often go to the lovely café next door. We booked at the last minute, so room 203 was the only one available. We were a bit unsure after reading the soundproofing reviews, but it was quiet while we were there.

I spent two nights here on my own. My cheap room faced the lobby, which didn’t bother me, though there was no hot or warm water for showers the whole time. That was okay given Vietnam’s humidity. I found ants on the nightstand, but I could wash my clothes and cook a simple breakfast. The area felt quiet and safe, and was close to the beach and places I wanted to visit. I’d pick this place over a standard hotel room any day.

Room 203 had no soundproofing at all. There’s a small wooden door between rooms, and you can hear everything from the reception and hallway, including people talking and the elevator. Don’t stay here if you want a good night’s sleep.
