Dom Hostel Old Town Hoi An

The room was large, and the shared spaces were fairly clean. I also liked that they leave toothbrushes in case you need one. Breakfast was nice and changed each day, from soup to banana pancakes. I met some great people, and the location was good too. For me, the best part of the hostel was its helpful, friendly, fun staff. I had a great experience.

The location is great, breakfast had a good variety, and most of the staff were very helpful. But our ground-floor room had an attached bathroom covered in mold. The smell was so strong and awful that it was unbearable to be in there, and opening the bathroom door even woke people up. Staff said they had cleaned it, but the smell kept coming back. That bathroom needs a deep clean urgently, it’s a serious hygiene problem. We also felt extremely uncomfortable and like our privacy had been violated when a staff member who wasn’t housekeeping was lying on the couch in our room. She only left after we called reception, and seemed to think being in a guest’s room was normal.

The hostel is in a good location, and the staff are nice. But there seems to be a serious mold problem everywhere. The pillows were moldy, and staff changed the pillowcases, so they must know. There was mold on the walls too, and the rooms smelled very bad.

I didn’t expect to be so delighted by this hostel. The beds were really comfortable, and the common area had a lively, friendly feel. Reception were the real stars: fun, adorable, helpful, and with a great sense of humor. They made my trip better. Great value, I’d absolutely recommend it, 10/10!
