Dong Nguyen Homestay Riverside

The homestay is right by the river and also close to the old town. The owner was very friendly and suggested some good lunch spots. My room was clean.

The family here are the sweetest, and they made us feel comfortable even though we arrived early on a night bus and couldn’t check in yet. We waited at reception, where they brought us fruit and cookies and checked if we needed anything else. The rooms are clean and nice, the showers are warm, and the price is low. It’s right on the river, about a ten-minute walk from the old town and busy area. The owner recommended her sister’s tailoring shop, where we had some clothes made. They also offer services like bike and motorbike rental and laundry. Our laundry was ready the same day, and bikes cost just 30k for the whole day. It’s a lovely homestay and great value in Hoi An. I’d definitely recommend it and would come back.

It’s an affordable option, and the rooms are big, but the place needs work in a few areas. Our room had been described as being on the third floor, but we ended up on the first. That was fine with us, though it wasn’t what we’d expected. There was no one to help with our luggage when we arrived. The young woman said her mother would help, but we didn’t feel right asking her to lift the suitcases, so we carried them ourselves. The stairs are a long way up even to the first floor, and it was a struggle. The bathroom was very old and smelled strange, the toilet wasn’t very clean, and our bath towels had stains. There was no soap, body wash, or other amenities. You also have to take off your shoes before entering the house or reception, which makes sense for a homestay, but slippers for arriving guests at the entrance would help. Light sleepers should know that even with the windows shut, the room has no soundproofing at all. We could hear everything from the family living downstairs at reception, as well as traffic noise, which you’d expect with the river view. I had earplugs and slept fine, so maybe the homestay could provide them. The place has potential, but these things could be improved. Thanks!

The rooms were simple, but bright, spacious, and very clean, and the homestay had a warm, familiar feel. The woman managing the place was lovely, friendly, spoke good English, and was really good at her job. She arranged everything for us, from taxi transfers and motorbike rental to laundry. The service was more comprehensive than at a five-star hotel, and the value for money was super good.
