Golden Bell Homestay

I felt so lucky to find this gem. The family made me feel spoilt, and even arranged an iced salted coffee from their coffee shop down the road. Breakfast was the best Vietnamese breakfast I’d had after two weeks of travelling. The house itself was big, beautifully decorated, and spotless. As a woman travelling solo, I was looking for an authentic Vietnamese experience away from tourists in Doi An. This quiet spot was perfect: five minutes one way on their borrowed bike gets you to the old town, and the other direction takes you to the rice fields and beach. They can also arrange tours and an airport taxi. I totally recommend the place and the homestay experience.

The room I got was a 9/10, and the location is really good. There are koi and a spring in the lobby, which are fun to watch. The rooms aren’t perfectly soundproof, so it can be a little noisy. The owner has invited me a few times and given me beer and salted coffee for free. I’ve never had such a friendly experience before. They’re so kind and generous, and for the hospitality alone, I give it a full five stars.

The hosts, Mr. Nam and his family, were attentive and welcoming throughout our four-night stay from June 16-20, 2025. Their son-in-law Ryan speaks fluent English and was especially helpful and engaging. He often came by to assist guests and share insights about local culture, history, and attractions. We were a family of three, including our 13-year-old daughter, travelling with a friend’s family of three. Our spacious, comfortable rooms had two queen-sized beds and air conditioning that worked well. The location was convenient for getting to Old Town, the rice fields, a convenience store, and popular places to eat. We also appreciated the drinking fountain with free cold water and the fresh bottles of water provided each day. We could rent scooters from the host, which gave us a convenient, safe, and insured way to get around. The hosts paid attention to details and clearly cared about guests having a good stay. We left with lasting memories of the warm atmosphere, and encourage potential guests to disregard negative reviews they may have seen. I was thoroughly satisfied with Golden Bell Home Stay. It exceeded our expectations, and I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable, convenient stay with a chance to learn about the local culture.

The street-facing room suited us, and we liked watching the neighborhood go about its day. It can be lively, though, and the quieter rooms seem to be at the back. The room itself was clean and comfortable, with service whenever we needed it. We stayed seven nights, and if we get back to HoiAn, Golden Bell Homestay would be our first pick. Mr Ñam and his family made us feel like honored guests. Each morning he had coffee, tea, and a lovely breakfast ready, often including a HoiAn specialty. He also sorted airport transfers, arranged a great trip to the Marble Mountains and Lady Buddha, and found us transport to and from DaNang one evening. We borrowed the available bicycles to go to the beach and ride through the beautiful countryside. We enjoyed coming back in the afternoons and evenings to say hello to the children. They seemed happy to have guests around, and spending time with them always made our day. Thank you, Mr Ñam and family, for such warm hospitality. We wish you all the best.
