HH Residence - Serviced Apartment

My room, 501, was quiet, even though I’d seen other people mention noise. It had a good Wi-Fi speed and its own router, along with plenty of storage and a full-size fridge. The balcony was a nice place to relax in the mornings. I booked early at a special price, which felt like good value. The area is peaceful, with a 24/7 mart 200 m away. The gym has weights up to 30 kg, plus dumbbells, more than enough for a vacation, and the equipment was in great condition.

We stayed for a whole month, so our nightly cost was probably lower than a short booking. I speak Vietnamese, so communication was easy. We took the cheapest option, a separate one-bedroom unit where the bedroom had no outside window, just one to the hallway. For the price and what we needed, this was the best place we visited in the same range, and we hope to return next year. It’s not perfect, though. Mr. Cường was lovely and helped with every request, always smiling. He connected us to a taxi driver we could hire by the hour and shared local tips. When we needed something, he’d say, “ok give me 5 minutes.” The older cleaning lady did a fabulous job, better than I’ve seen even at five-star hotels. She noticed we were saving rubber bands from food orders and put them in a box, and brought extra kitchen towels after seeing we used one hand towel in the kitchen. The room was in very good condition compared with other hotels, with lots of closet space, a generous size for Vietnam, two air conditioners and two fans, and clean utensils in relatively good shape for an Airbnb. The area was mostly quiet, with little traffic, mostly locals, convenient stores nearby, easy Grab rides, and the beach a five-minute walk away. There’s an actual gym with weights, a spin bike, and treadmill, with no operating-hour restrictions. There’s also a pleasant outdoor sitting area, and reception can take packages for you. The downsides were thin walls, so we could hear people arguing and having sex, a slippery bathroom floor that made us buy mats, and cooking smells that seemed to come through connected vents. Two nearby karaoke cafes could go on for hours. I hear that happens everywhere in VN?

The location, just two blocks from the beach, was a plus, and our host communicated really well, replying quickly and paying close attention. My girlfriend and I stayed two weeks, and the experience was okay but not great. Our apartment was dark, and the window was right by construction. Workers started around 6:30/7 am, waking us most mornings. Internet was the other problem. I needed to work during our stay, but the connection was unstable for the remote platform I use. The host did everything she could to improve it, but it still wasn’t good enough. If you need to work, ask whether construction noise will affect the apartment and be aware it won’t have its own router. (June 2024)

We moved here from South Africa, and the last six months and counting have been wonderful. We love living here. It’s lovely, and the beach is within walking distance.
