Phuc Thao Villa

The staff were amazing, especially the nicest man we've met on our travels. He was helpful with every question we had. The rooms were big and comfortable, and the location in Hoi An was just right, not too close to the center but easy to reach on foot or by Grab for 50 dong, with no wait. I'd highly recommend staying here.

Quiet and peaceful, with delicious, healthy breakfasts. The rooms were clean and very comfortable, and the villa manager was attentive and caring. This is the best villa I've ever stayed at. Thanks so much for the hospitality, and all the best. I'll definitely recommend it to friends!

I don't think this place deserves a 4.7 rating. Maybe the whole city is overrated, or maybe something's going on that I don't know about. The bed was uncomfortable, the sheets a bit musty, and everything felt old. I asked the owner about the bed before arriving because an earlier review had mentioned it. He said it had memory foam, but it didn't. These were poor-quality spring mattresses, and I could feel the springs in my bones. Maybe the place could be a three- or four-star hotel, but I gave it two stars to bring the rating down a bit and keep it fair.

The room and stay were a mess. The bed's springs pushed into me when I lay down, and when I told the owner, he suggested adding a topper. If he had one, why wasn't it on the mattress before I arrived? I had no hand or face towels either, though he did bring them a few hours later. You have to take off your shoes before entering the property. It was raining, and the shoes and slippers hadn't been kept somewhere dry, so my socks got wet right away. Not a big deal by itself, but it set the tone. Later, a bird sang loudly nonstop all night. The windows aren't soundproof, so morning traffic comes through too. I came back around 10-10:30 at night and had trouble falling asleep. The AC was so loud I had to switch it off. The bathroom was very dark, with a dark grey marble-like floor. I'm nearsighted, so I took my glasses off to shower. Then I noticed my slippers floating away. The drain was clogged and water had built up several centimeters on the floor. The hot water ran out as well, so I finished my shower with cool water. I texted the owner and got no response, not even the next morning. Between the bird, the bathroom and the bed, I slept terribly and woke with bad back pain. I went down during breakfast and asked for a little milk for instant coffee in my room. Even though people were still eating, the owner handed me a sealed small carton with a straw. I thought they might have run out of opened milk, but at checkout I found out he charged me 25,000 for it. I only used a little and left the rest in the fridge. Laundry and breakfast seemed to work the same way: offered in a caring tone, then charged later or at checkout. It may not be much money, but I don't like the dishonesty. After all that, he still asked if I wanted to extend my stay. Terrible experience.
