Rest Hotel & Apartment Riverside Da Nang

The location is far from everything, and I wouldn’t come back or recommend the place. Common areas and the swimming pool were extremely dirty, though luckily my room was cleaner. The TV in my room didn’t work until they fixed it on the second day. The pool was closed for two days, and they hadn’t mentioned that when we booked. The sauna costs a crazy extra amount per person and wasn’t clean inside. They said motorcycles were available, but none were there on the first day when we needed one. Reception staff were mostly unfriendly and unhelpful, apart from one girl.

The late check-out I had already paid for through Booking.com turned into a hassle. I called the front desk the night before leaving and was told I could have a late check-out for an extra fee. I explained that I’d paid for it at booking, but the receptionist didn’t seem to understand. I went down to show the booking and found nobody at the desk, so I waited. When someone came back, he said housekeeping only had an hour before the next guests and suggested I give up the late check-out. I asked him to call the manager. After a short call and photos of my booking on my phone, the manager approved it. I still don’t understand why the booking details weren’t visible in their system. Then, less than ninety minutes before the agreed check-out time, someone banged loudly on my door and shouted “check out” several times. I hurriedly got dressed and opened the door, but no one was there. It felt disrespectful and unprofessional. There were other problems too. Renovation noise starts at 7 am, the ventilation is so loud even when switched off that I needed earplugs, and housekeeping only cleans in the morning, so late sleepers don’t get room service. The large elevator is out of order every other day, and when it does work it jerks so violently that I worried it might crash. For this price, I’ve stayed in much better rooms and had much better service elsewhere in Vietnam. The front desk confusion, the hotel’s housekeeping constraint, the early knock, the elevator and the noise all add up. I can’t recommend this Hotel.

The pool area was great. I spent a lot of time up there socialising with other hotel guests. The staff were also really helpful when things went wrong: they helped me contact a Grab driver after I thought I’d left my phone in the car, and when I had an issue with another traveller, they made sure I was safe and changed my room without any trouble. The hotel is too far out for me personally, though that’s my only negative.

I don’t usually leave a review like this, but I’d tell people not to book here. I’d just finished the ha giang loop and wanted a few nights in a “hotel” to relax. Wrong choice. The room didn’t feel clean. The beds looked hastily made, and even walking lightly around left my feet dusty and dirty, so I had to wear sandals. There are ants in the bathroom, and the drain was already clogged from previous guests. After about eight minutes, the hot water ran out. That’s especially frustrating if you want a longer shower to wash your hair and shave. The shower was more like a bath. The floor around the sauna was filthy, and they don’t clean it regularly. The AC didn’t work, or was really loud when it did. The bathroom fan is tied to the light and very loud too. With both running, it sounds like a plane taking off. When I tried speaking to the reception ladies, they ignored me. They dismissed me when I asked for the manager’s number or their names, which was rude and poor customer service. They also didn’t mention the construction on the top floor at check-in. It’s very loud early in the morning, so sleeping in isn’t really possible. I’ve been to 50 countries and stayed in plenty of hostels and homestays much cleaner than this hotel. Please be advised.
