I booked through Agoda last month and got a confirmation. A few hours before check-in, they said the building needed a termite inspection or cleanup. I was traveling and didn’t see the message. When I got there, they didn’t explain much, just said the booking was canceled and they couldn’t give us a room. They also said the manager who had approved the booking was no longer the manager, so there were different explanations for why they couldn’t host us. Things can happen, but the way reception treated us was unacceptable. In hospitality, the least they could have done was offer some kind of alternative for the failure, but they insisted they couldn’t accommodate us. Why accept the booking if they didn’t want the guest? It was frustrating and the worst service of all.

I really enjoyed my stay. It felt both luxurious and affordable.

Good value for the price, and there’s a pool on the roof.

The first day got off to a bad start. I’d still been messaging the host through the app the day before our arrival for a five-day stay with my family of four. But when we got there, a staff member brushed us off, saying the hotel had changed ownership and had no rooms for us because we hadn’t paid a deposit. I was furious and ready to argue. Luckily, a manager came over, asked what was wrong, and said they’d sort it out so I could have my room. After that, the stay was much better. The place is a bit old but clean, and everyone besides that first-day staff member was lovely and friendly. Towels and toiletries were cleaned daily, though they forgot to refill the shower gel and shampoo. The staff were helpful and welcoming. The upper-floor pool was clean, but we spent so much time wandering around that we didn’t get to swim. Maybe we’ll relax there another time.
