Sea Beside Me Hotel & Suites

We arrived late at night with our family, two adults and two children, and had to find another hotel after 11 PM. We spent two hours stranded without food. Instead of putting us in the rooms we had booked, the hotel sent us to another building. Those rooms were cramped, poorly maintained, and on different floors. One felt like a servant's quarters, and the other meant climbing stairs past the lift, beside a noisy elevator machine. Staff insisted we stay just one night and offered an upgrade and breakfast, but we refused because of safety and hygiene concerns. The receptionist left while we were still dealing with the problem because her shift had ended. The next day we were given a “Superior” room and a “Family” room, but the problems carried on. The floors were sticky and dirty, there was garbage under the bed, and the sheets were stained. The pillows and blankets were yellowed, there was no handwash, and housekeeping was poor. The wardrobe smelled foul, water sat in the bathroom, the AC was slow, and towels even had blood stains. Breakfast was just as disappointing. As vegetarians we could only eat eggs and fruit, and even eggs were limited to one serving each. We had to go out to eat despite the breakfast being free. Staff didn't help with luggage unless we asked repeatedly, seemed uninterested and untrained, and showed no basic hospitality. Later they tried to charge us for the upgrade that had been promised as compensation. We've stayed in many hotels around Vietnam, and this was by far the worst. Avoid it if cleanliness, safety, and basic service matter to you.

The location in the heart of MY AN is good, about 300 meters from the beach, and the price felt fair for the quality. The rooms are big and spacious, though very basic, just white walls and a bed. Breakfast was below average, basically a bowl of soup, so we only went once. The coffee from a jar had tiny bits of plastic in it. What bothered me most was being pushed to leave a good review when we arrived, just because they gave us the room an hour before the official 2pm check-in. They even took a photo of my phone showing the review before handing over the key. That felt unprofessional and annoying. Fair value, but nothing extra.

The location was amazing, and the staff were helpful and reliable during our month here. It's a basic hotel, and we mostly used it to sleep and swim. The amenities are simple, and I wish there'd been a microwave for reheating leftovers. The pool area was the letdown. Lighting was poor, algae had built up in the tiles and corners, some loungers were broken, and guests left cans and water bottles behind. With regular upkeep, some plants and umbrellas, and updated furniture with chair pads, it could be a nice place to sit together and have a drink.

The sheets were dirty, and my room had a strong cigarette smell. I also got more than ten bug bites, though I couldn't tell whether they were from bedbugs or mosquitoes. I asked staff to switch rooms or fix it, but they only sprayed insect spray around the bed.
