SPOT ON 1076 Dai Loc Motel

We’d prepaid through Expedia, as we had for all the other places on this trip, but when we arrived at 5 pm the old man at the desk refused to let us stay. He insisted they only took cash, even after we showed him the receipt. He said they didn’t “do” service through third parties and had no plan to refund us. The family was no help and eventually ignored us, so, needing somewhere to sleep, we paid them extra cash. Then we found a room that hadn’t been cleaned. There were stains on the sheets, used glasses, and dirty floors and bathroom. They also lock the property after 10 pm. You can ask someone to let you out, but getting back in is another matter.

The power cut out at 3 AM even though there was electricity outside, and I couldn’t sleep at all. What a terrible guesthouse.

Basic but clean, and the staff were friendly. One thing to know: Google Maps has the location wrong. The hotel is across the street.

The room’s on the small side, but I think it’s fine for a night.
