Tamarind Hotel

The only bright spot was that the breakfast ladies were attentive. The meal itself was very poor, with little variety, bad taste and low-quality food. At reception, there was a bad smell, and the staff were rude and unhelpful. The rooms were worse: sunken beds, stained sheets, and cleaning that seemed not to have been done. There was dust and lint on the ceiling and mirrors, mould in the shower, hair from previous guests in the faucets, and leaks from the ceiling. The Tamarind Beach Hotel in Da Nang also didn’t tell guests ahead of time that the pool would be closed, which was a major disappointment. It was a horrible stay. I absolutely don’t recommend this hotel.

We haven’t found better value in Da nang, which is why we stay at Tamarind for two months every year. It’s an easy walk to the beach and all the My Anh restaurants. Our apartment is comfortable, with a large bed, nice linens and towels, two TVs with Netflix, a big fridge, mini kitchen, comfy couch and a four-seat dining table. We also get beach views from the window. The shaded rooftop pool has great views of the beach and city fireworks, and the staff are friendly and always go the extra mile for us. Breakfast has freshly cooked egg dishes, toast and jams, fruit, cold meats and salad, plus several Asian dishes. The dining area is bright and spacious. Try their salted drinks, they’re delicious. Highly recommend, from 2 Aussies.

The location is the one thing Tamarind Hotel has going for it. The bathroom backed up, and it took more than 6 hours before anyone dealt with it. The pillows were uncomfortable too, and the air conditioning is fixed at 22°C with no way to make it cooler. When my wife and I were feeling ill, we asked for salt and drinking water and were told to sort it out ourselves. After 6 PM there was nobody available at reception or for room service. The lack of help and basic consideration was appalling. This was one of the most disappointing hotel stays I've had anywhere, and the location doesn't make up for it. I wouldn't recommend spending your money or peace of mind here.

We spent two weeks here and would happily come back. Hai, the manager, was quick to help us, an American couple, whenever we needed anything, and Vi and the housekeeping team kept our room in great shape. The staff were all so friendly. The hotel is one block from the beach, with a lovely view of Me Khe beach, the islands, and surfers just a 50-100 meter walk away. For a budget place, the rooftop was fantastic: a good hot breakfast with omelettes made to order, a decent pool, and plenty of outdoor seating with beautiful ocean and city views. There are lots of coffee shops and restaurants serving different cuisines nearby, as well as karaoke and live music. It's a medium-sized hotel with a huge heart.
