Tea Garden Villa

The staff made us feel very welcome and helped arrange airport transfers, tours, and extra accommodation for a friend when we were in a pinch. The Tea Garden Homestay is well located, the rooms are large, and the beds are comfortable. We also had a great meal at the restaurant. The bathroom could use a better window blind and a shower screen, since it kept flooding.

The woman who runs the place has great English and is exceptionally friendly. It’s worth stopping by reception for a chat. When we arrived on my birthday, the owner even went out and came back with a cake bearing my name. Such a lovely welcome. We stayed in the Garden Room, which was huge, with large windows on two sides and a view of the garden and koi pond. The beds were very comfortable. We kept sleeping in and missing breakfast, which ends at 9:30am, too early for us. We had dinner at the restaurant one night and tried local specialties. I’d recommend the grilled fish in banana leaf. The restaurant gets very busy, so go at a quieter time or be patient. The friendly staff and attached restaurant make this place worth recommending.

Lin was very helpful with arranging tours, an airport shuttle, and a trip to the post office. The location is great, close to the Old Town, restaurants, and tailors. Breakfast was free, and the restaurant served really good food. Our room was big and quiet, and the bed was comfortable. The bathroom door was broken, so there was no privacy, and nobody was at the front desk when we arrived. The TV was hit or miss, with some channels not working.

We had a good stay. The place is right by the historic city center, and our room was clean, nice, and larger than usual, with a pleasant terrace. Breakfast was very good, and the staff were friendly and happy to help with questions. I’d definitely stay there again.
