The Vietnam Hostel

I only stayed at The Vietnam Hostel for two nights. It's modern, in a good location, and has a very quiet elevator. The restaurant and bar look good, though I didn't eat there. Breakfast was tasty: homemade hummus and toast, fresh fruit in generous portions, and coffee. The staff were welcoming and friendly, but most spoke limited English. The sweet front desk girl from Hanoi spoke almost excellent English. The dorm, showers, and restrooms were clean, and the showers and restrooms were comfortable. But two showers and two bathrooms for more than 22 people isn't really enough, and bigger bins in the room and bathrooms would help. There's space to secure valuables, though the lockers are small when nearly everyone travels with at least one large bag. I'm 1.91m, and although the beds are spacious, the mattress was far too thin and hard for me to sleep on. Common areas right outside the dorm doors also made it hard to rest. In dorm E, people talked right outside the door until 1.46am, and others went back and forth to the fridge nearby, leaving the door open. If you want a quiet night's sleep and a fresh start the next day, this place isn't for you. Three stars out of five.

The Vietnam Hostel was the best place I've stayed. It's a hostel, but the service felt better than at a four-star hotel. The design is authentic, the place is very clean, and the staff are lovely. They hold a BBQ party every week where everyone can eat, drink, and sing together. I'll come back whenever I can, and recommend it to visitors.

It's fine for a few days. The staff are nice, the room is clean, and you can have coffee while waiting to check in. Good location, nice shower area, and a wide bed. The toilet is so narrow it's hard to pull up your pants while standing. The upper bunk is high, though maybe I'm just short. There's no soundproofing, so be prepared if you end up sharing with a loud group of students with high hormones like I did. They made a ridiculous amount of noise until midnight.

Nice hostel, with a cool design and central location. The hair dryer is outside the bathroom, and there's no small fridge in the room. The cement bathroom walls smelled bad, as they seemed to absorb everything. The ceiling is open, so the sound of water running through the pipes came through very clearly at night.
