Thinh Phuc Homestay

After a couple of months here, the villa really felt like home. It's the best value we've found among the places we've stayed in Hoi An. The room was spacious, with a big balcony, and both it and the rest of the house were clean and cozy. Lots of green plants added to the charm. Breakfast was simple but nice, with eggs and fruit. Free bicycles were available, and there's a WinMart just around the corner.

The rooms are a nice size and clean, and the owners are really friendly. Always a pleasure staying here.

For 280 k d/night, the deluxe double room was good value, and I'd recommend it, around 4.5 stars. The place is clean, the bed is comfortable, and the staff are friendly. They let us check in very early, which was kind. Room cleaning and fresh towels came daily, and there were free toiletries, including a toothbrush and soap. Plenty of outlets, even by the bed, plus a nightstand and nightlight, closet, two chairs and a table, fridge, TV, and good AC. There's an elevator, and the shower was good, with hooks, towel rails, toiletry shelves, and bathroom ventilation. It's a quiet area with fewer tourists, food and drink nearby, some much cheaper than in the city center, and a market close by. Free bicycles were available too. The downsides: the bathroom mat was dirty, the room had very little light, just a fluorescent tube over the window, and roosters and chickens were loud in the mornings and sometimes at night. Our room had a locked glass door to another room or hallway. Sometimes we heard noise through it, and light came through the hole all night. The last night was awful. Neighbors partied until 4 or 5 am. We couldn't reach those rooms from our building, so we had to walk around the block in the middle of the night to find the noisy guests. I asked one guest to be quiet, but it made no difference. There was loud talking, furniture and bottles scraping along the floor, and music. We couldn't have been the only ones hearing it, but no one did anything. Maybe the hotel has no rules or doesn't enforce them. I complained the next day, and the staff at least apologized. We wanted to extend for two nights, but they quoted more than we'd paid so far and more than Booking.com showed. Paying by card meant another 3% fee. We said we'd book online instead, then suddenly the room was no longer available because they had blocked it, and they wouldn't unblock it. We had no choice but to pay their price, so we declined and booked somewhere else. Very awkward. There's also a 3% card payment surcharge, and taking the room key with you cuts the electricity, including the AC and fridge.

I loved my three-night stay. The pool was clean and lovely, and nice and warm. My queen room had a very comfortable bed, and I enjoyed sitting on the balcony as the sun went down. Breakfast was included and lovely. I had omelette and bread, or fried egg and bread, with fruit each morning. On my last day I tried a smoothie, though I hadn't expected a smoothie bowl, and it was so good. They arranged a car to the airport that arrived right on time, which I really appreciated. It's about 1.5 km from the ancient town, an easy walk. I was offered a bike but declined. When I return to Hoi An, I'll definitely stay here again.
