Camellia Family Suites

Important update: there’s been new ownership since July 25, and I feel it has killed the good atmosphere. A lot of the physical things have changed, and I don’t trust the new owner. She raises prices from one day to the next and fired a lot of the staff very rudely. This used to be a heavenly place, but I’d stay away now. Don’t rely on pictures or reviews from June 2025 onward.

The pool setup is a letdown: it’s on the ground floor beside reception, with no loungers and barely any room to sit or walk around. We stayed at Camellia for five months and were happy with our two-bedroom apartment on the seventh floor. It could have used fresh paint, but for 10 million VND a month plus bills, it was in decent shape and good value. The staff were lovely, too. That changed when new management took over on 1 July 2025. They let all the old staff go, nearly doubled the rent, and raised the bills. The new team felt less welcoming, was smaller, and didn’t seem properly trained or friendly. They also did repairs and repainting while we were still living in the apartment. Such a shame, because Camellia used to be great.

I’ve stayed here several times and would happily keep coming back. It’s a lovely place to live, with a peaceful city view and the beach just five minutes away. The beds, tables, and chairs are comfortable, and the price feels well worth it. Thanks to the enthusiastic staff, especially Nelly, who was kind, thoughtful, and helped me out many times.

I’m posting this again because the apartment complex deleted its page and made a new one after so many guests left bad reviews. In my month there, almost everything was a headache. Ants, roaches, mold, problems with the washing machine and refrigerator, and moldy AC units that made me sick. When I asked them to clean the AC, they sent a security guard to wipe the small outside filter, making a huge mess. The mold inside remained, and they wouldn’t help, so I paid someone myself. The manager was at the heart of it. He’d promise whatever would get me to move in, then wouldn’t help afterward or even let staff help. They promised an extra TV, then changed their minds. I was promised a room with a big bed, but on move-in day there were two small beds. They said cats were fine and watched me bring in all my cats’ things. As soon as the moving van left, they messaged to say cats weren’t allowed, scolded me, and gave me a ridiculous list of conditions for staying. They also said cleaners couldn’t come if I wasn’t home. I came back once to find two cleaners sitting on my sofa, talking and laughing loudly with the door wide open. My two frightened cats were missing for an hour. After I left, they charged more rent than we’d agreed and tried to keep my deposit. I went three times to collect it after they invited me, and each time they claimed they didn’t have it. When I made a scene in the full lobby, suddenly the money was there. They’ll do whatever they can to treat customers badly. Please avoid this place.
