White Cloud Homestay

The pool was a lovely break from the sun, with both sunny and shaded spots. We stayed at May Trang Homestay and really enjoyed the quiet island location. May Trang means White Cloud in Vietnamese. Our room was very clean, and the AC worked well once it got going. The beer and water prices were extremely reasonable, even better than at some local mini marts. Vivi made the stay wonderful. She was a great source of advice on where to go and what prices to expect, so say hello if she's working. The rest of the staff were great too. Laundry was easy and came back the same day if we left it early enough. Fresh towels came daily, and room cleaning was unobtrusive. We found a third-floor room quietest, though there isn't an elevator, so keep that in mind. Another review said a young woman felt unable to use the pool because of the two men there. One is the owner and the other the security guard. While we were there, they paid no attention at all to the other young women using the pool. That doesn't mean the other reviewer's experience or feelings were wrong, though I wonder if she may have misread the situation. My wife and I loved staying here.

The room had everything I needed, so I can't complain about it. But with temperatures over 30 degrees every day in summer, I would have liked to use the pool, and I didn't feel comfortable doing that as a young woman with two men sitting beside it all day. They were always there, so I couldn't find a time to swim without them around.

The room was very clean and was cleaned every day during our four-night stay. Breakfast was also very good. The hotel is in a great spot near the Ancient Town, and the staff were friendly and helpful. We booked our bus to Da Lat through the hotel and weren't happy with the bus company's quality. The staff at White Cloud went to great lengths to resolve the problem and make sure we were satisfied.

The price was low, and the location was great, very close to the historic town centre with little road traffic. Breakfast was OK, bikes were available to rent, and the staff were helpful. The rooms were small, and there wasn't much privacy. Service felt below average, with a lot of noise from both staff and other guests.
