Zen Diamond Suites Hotel

I spent several months living here, and for most of that time the stay was pleasant. The apartment owner was hospitable and reasonable, and the building is in a good area, relatively quiet by Vietnamese standards, with everything needed for daily life within walking distance. I hadn't planned to write about the negatives, but several things happened two days before I left that future tenants should know about. My main problem was the people involved. Blue Sea Real Estate in Block A was difficult to deal with. Its manager, Vy, was, in my experience, irresponsible and disrespectful with clients. She took a long time to reply, and I had to keep reminding her about requests. Before we left, she charged us an extra cleaning fee without anyone checking whether the apartment was dirty. We had kept it in very good condition for ourselves. The contract never mentioned this fee, and nobody told us about it when we moved in. We had to negotiate with the owner to remove the 400,000 VND charge because we were leaving the apartment as we found it. Vy also refused to extend our apartment registration, saying we had only two weeks left. I believe this violates Vietnamese immigration regulations and can cause serious problems for a tourist without valid registration, possibly affecting the ability to get a Vietnamese visa later. The owner was the only reason we managed to resolve it. Every interaction with Vy felt like she was doing me a favour instead of doing the job she was paid for. She was not customer-oriented. In Block B, the security guard and receptionist encouraged residents to use one particular water delivery service, which seemed to me like they had an arrangement with it. I strongly advise against using it. The water had a strange smell, deliveries were repeatedly late even when arranged a day ahead, and we most likely wouldn't have got the 50,000 VND bottle deposit back. They promised to return it each day, then eventually started ignoring our messages. The building management should address the stuffy ventilation on the first floor and in the elevators. There were also many insects in the building, including cockroaches and ants. I'm not sure this can realistically be solved in Vietnam, or whether people just have to put up with it. If not for the way some people behaved, I might consider staying again. It's unfortunate that rudeness and irresponsibility can spoil an otherwise good place.
