Au Lac Bar & Hostel

My first stay at this hotel was a bad experience. We paid 750,000 VND for the room, but the staff treated us as if we'd stayed for free. The front desk girl was rude and grumpy while helping us check the room. There was no water in the bathroom because of an issue with the pool, and there were bugs too. The telephone didn't work at all. Worst hotel and worst service. Ridiculous, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

Breakfast was decent, but the rooms and service were a letdown. We had two rooms. In the first, the sink leaked under the counter, the toilet had a small leak beneath it, and the shower handle came off. We called three times about that bathroom and nobody showed up. In the second room there was no hot water, and the flimsy patio door was shared with someone we didn't know. We asked for two fresh towels and got only one. The hallways were dirty, with chunks on the floor, so it was hard not to track them into the rooms.

Breakfast was supposed to be included, but when we went down there wasn't any food out. The shower also leaked all over the bathroom. We left disappointed and felt we'd been ripped off.

The location is good and the staff were nice, but for more than 500,000 a night I wasn't very happy. My room was narrow and small, and the bathroom was so tiny I could barely turn around in the shower. The shower door was broken and left the floor really wet. Breakfast was basic, with a choice of bread and egg or chicken noodles made to order. Noise from people coming and going in other rooms kept me from sleeping well, and the main door didn't do much to block sound from outside.
