Cat BA Rosalia Hotel

I was impressed by the hospitality throughout my stay. I arranged my tour, bus, and motorbike through the receptionist, which was very convenient. The room had full facilities, a comfortable bed, and a lovely bay view. Highly recommend.

I paid 500,000 VND for one night on the fifth day of Tet, when many hotels were closed. My room had one bed and looked toward Cat Ba market. I was on the seventh floor, so I didn't notice any bad smells. Parking was limited, though getting to the beach or square was convenient. The lake across the road seemed like a sewage pond and smelled bad, but thankfully my room wasn't on that side. It was okay overall.

We booked six rooms without breakfast and got free early check-in when we arrived around 10:30. The hotel stays open at night, so late food orders are easy, though there's no receptionist on duty then. The rooms were reasonably good and had the basic amenities. Two-person double rooms face the lake, while rooms with one double bed overlook Cat Ba market. The hotel fronts Pho Tung Dinh street, with a grocery store and market behind it, which is handy. But when the doors are open, the seafood smell can get very strong and unpleasant. One receptionist was lovely and helpful; another lady was a bit grumpy. Housekeeping didn't seem very professional, and their claim that our water came from the hotel made sorting out the issue complicated. For Cat Ba, it's a decent option compared with other hotels.

The room was a little old but clean, and the receptionist was very nice. The owner is exceptionally hospitable and, to me, the only one in Cat Ba who really knows how to provide good service. A hundred points for him! It's right by Cat Ba market and near Tung Thu beach, though the slope means you still need to take an electric buggy to reach it.
