Lang Chai Hotel

The breakfast was decent, and the older woman serving it was the one bright spot. The bathroom floor was wet and the bathroom itself wasn't clean, with lots of dust from nearby construction. Light from the hallway stayed on all night, so the room wasn't dark enough. Reception didn't seem to know much about the hotel or the city, and they also tried to charge us twice the price.

For the low price, this is an easy, simple place to stay near the main beaches. It's right by what I thought was the best bike rental in South East Asia. Towels were changed every day, and they provided shampoo and shower gel. It's a shame the town's seafront has changed so much with the big property development.

The room was spacious, the WiFi worked well, and the staff were helpful. They let me bring my bicycle into the room, and there was no last minute cancellation fee. You can pay by card, though they add a 3% fee. I wouldn't pay extra for the “sea view.” My large “VIP” room was advertised with one, but a huge construction site now blocks it, and the windows were dirty. The room was clean, but the bedsheets had several permanent stains and there was mold in one ceiling corner. The plugs were loose, so my charger kept disconnecting, and the shower head was in poor condition. Lighting was just one bright white ceiling light, switched on and off by the door. Breakfast was basic: a crepe, an egg prepared how you chose, and a hot drink. I'm not sure what else is available at this price, but the hotel could use some maintenance.

We paid a reasonable price and got the kind of stay we expected, not a five star hotel. The room was clean and had a nice view, and the location was good, close to the center. Whenever something came up, the staff were ready to help sort it out. Breakfast was filling, and we were more than satisfied with it.
