Annie's Old Quarter

The host was helpful, the location was nice, and everything was a short walk away. Being right by beer street meant noise late into the night, though it didn't bother us too much. The bed was hard, but the sheets were clean. I'd put the room cleanliness at about 3.5 or 4 out of 5. Would stay again.

For 2 nights, I was very happy with the stay. The room was small but worth the rate, and the manager was accommodating and helpful. It's got an old but pleasant vibe, right in the Old Quarter, making most sights easy to reach. Toiletries and a few snacks and drinks were in the fridge, and there were some good books at reception. Beer Street is close, so expect music and noise late into the night. The water pressure was low, and the shower could use some work. Still, I'd recommend it for a budget stay in a central part of Hanoi.

I don't understand the high ratings on Google and Booking. The bathroom was a total disaster: there was a used razor by the sink and some leftover paper, and I had to ask for more. The sink and shower looked like they hadn't been cleaned in a very long time. We checked in to find stained bedsheets and towels. Staff replaced the sheets with another stained set, then another that was only 'cleaner.' We washed our pillowcases at a dry cleaner because everything seemed dirty, and despite complaining, we never got clean towels, so we used our own. The place should be cleaned between guests. I understand it's low-priced, but come on. It felt like no one had cleaned it for months, and I'd give 0 stars if I could.

The area around Annie’s was easy to explore on foot, with the beer street, walking street, and plenty of food and coffee spots close by. I was a little unsure after reading about noise, but my room was peaceful even on Saturday night. It was clean, and the bathroom had everything I needed. The host was around most of the time and helped me feel secure, even though I didn’t need to ask for anything. As a woman traveling alone, I felt safe here and nearby. I’d definitely stay at Annie’s again if I return to Hanoi.
