It’s in a tucked-away corner of the army area in Hanoi, very close to the Opera house and Hoàn Kiếm Lake. If you want somewhere quiet away from all the motorcycle honking, this is a good spot.

There were bed bugs in the bed, odd smells in the room, yellow marks in the shower, and black stains on both the sheet and mattress. It felt extremely unsanitary. I wouldn’t recommend it, the worst experience ever.

I returned in 2008 after staying at the ATS for four months in 1997. It was still a very, very good hotel, with good staff and food, close to the old city and lots of good restaurants.

The receptionist was the friendliest ever and helped me get my lost suitcase back. Absolutely great, thank you so much!
