I’d booked a month here, then got a text just 30 minutes before arriving saying the room was unavailable because they were refurbishing it. They also asked me to cancel the booking on Booking.com. The reviews there are obviously fake. Absolutely avoid!

The owner, Ms. Im Hue, deserves 5+ stars. She generously upgraded me at no extra cost when I had a knee injury. That sort of thing does happen in Vietnam, at least in the North. The place is well kept and well located, with an elevator and breakfast. It’s a quasi service apartment that’s maintained very well. Like many places in Hanoi, it’s in an alley, but this one was clean, quiet, and well looked after. Everything worked fine.

The location is very good, close to good food and shopping. Rooms are spacious and clean, though there’s no view, and finding the place can be difficult because it has no signboard.

We booked Aura Home through Booking.com, but just before we arrived the owner said the room was being refurbished and we couldn’t stay there. He sent us here, but we couldn’t stay here either and had to move on to another place. After a while, it became clear the owner had problems with the police. It seemed like a big scam.
