Hanoi Asia Hotel

The only thing going for this hotel is the location, with restaurants and sights nearby. The stay itself was a nightmare. The room looked nothing like the photos on booking.com, and it smelled strongly of mold when we walked in. Half the outlets didn’t work, ants were all over the bathroom and sink, and I found strange bugs on my bed. There wasn’t any drinking water, either. Then the power went out without warning, and we had no cold water. We couldn’t shower, brush our teeth or wash our hands. We asked the woman downstairs for help, but she brushed us off. Even after six hours without electricity, she hadn’t called an electrician. We saw her playing cards with a friend instead, seemingly unconcerned about the service. The whole stay was disappointing, unhygienic and deeply unpleasant.

We booked through Agoda two weeks ahead for New Year’s Eve, but when we arrived, the staff said there were no rooms left. We told them there must be a mistake, and they snapped back that it was our fault. The woman was rude and unreasonable, never apologized and just kept arguing. We ended up having to book another hotel for a much higher price. A really bad experience.

The rooms are a little small by Western standards, but they were clean and tidy, and the location was great. What stood out most was the service. I booked several tours there with Rami, a polite and honest woman, then stayed at the hotel too. The tours cost considerably less than I could find elsewhere, especially online. Remi also went above and beyond arranging my bookings and shuttle transfers, and sharing useful information about the city. I’d highly recommend it 😊

There are lots of restaurants on the same street, and the hotel is close to the Old Quarter, a bus stop, and an easy walk into the area. Being on a main road made it simple to order Grab cars, though it could get noisy. The staff were helpful and friendly. The water heater worked fine, but the shower flow was a bit weak.
