Hanoi Center Silk Hotel

Everything's close enough to walk to, which makes this a great spot for being right in the middle of Hanoi. You get what you pay for in terms of hotel quality, but it's really good for the price. The people, especially at reception, were sooo friendly. My family loved the free rice crackers and candy in the lobby, and there's an ATM right out front.

The staff made the biggest difference for us, especially Noah. After checkout, they kept our luggage, let us shower before our late flight, and arranged our airport ride. They were attentive and kind throughout our stay, knew my husband by name, helped with the bags, and held doors. They'd already arranged our driver through WhatsApp before we arrived late at night after a long travel day. We were a family of five staying seven nights. At first I felt a little discouraged because the hotel looked more dated than the photos. Our room had space for all of us, with two king beds that were genuinely comfortable, and free bottled water each day. The bathroom was the main drawback: visible mold and a clogged shower drain that flooded. My husband cleared it himself, and it was pretty gross. Cleanliness was about a 5-6/10, not awful but not spotless, with ceiling stains you notice. Still, it was clear the staff worked hard to maintain the property. The location right on Beer Street in the Old Quarter is great if you want food, shops, coffee, and nightlife within walking distance. The windows blocked most of the noise, but not all of it. It worked for us even with kids, though it wouldn't suit someone looking for a quiet, relaxing stay. The AC worked well, but the choice seemed to be freezing cold or humid, with little in between. We skipped breakfast, since there are lots of great places to eat nearby. For the value, central location, and helpful staff, this is a good choice if those are what you're after.

Jay, the hotel manager, was wonderful: genuine, kind, and dedicated. He was always trying to help us make the most of our time in Hanoi and Vietnam. The staff welcomed us with such warm smiles that returning after exploring the north felt like coming home. We stayed here on and off for a total of eight nights. The hotel sits on a very busy street. Our first night, we had a balcony room facing a pub, and noise from there and Beer Street carried on until 2 or 3 in the morning. I explained the problem at reception the next day. They were apologetic and understanding, said the hotel was full and they'd move us when they could, and offered earplugs that helped a lot. The room looked a little old and tired, but it was clean and spacious enough, and the bed and pillows were super comfortable. The location is convenient for exploring the Old Quarter. It's a good fit for singles or couples with just two or three days in Hanoi who want to be immersed in the nightlife, but not ideal for families with young children.

You can walk to lots of places from this hotel in the old French quarters, and the staff are hospitable and really helpful. Just be aware that the area gets rowdy at night and can be noisy.
