The service and basic amenities were a letdown throughout my stay. When we needed a spoonful of sugar for our two-year-old daughter’s curd and rice at 10 p.m., my husband went to ask downstairs. There was no intercom in the room, and the receptionist told him to buy a whole packet from a nearby 7-Eleven. When he said it was for coffee, she advised him not to drink coffee so late because it might affect his sleep. After he firmly complained, she told him to ask the watchman to get sugar from the restaurant. It eventually arrived in a small plastic bag, after all that hassle. The wardrobe compartments were shallow and flimsy, and there were no sugar sachets with the tea and coffee. I was glad the staff arranged a full-length mirror when I asked, but neither room 705 nor room 505 had one at first. In 705, the only mirror was in the bathroom, so I had to wait for my husband to finish in there before getting ready. The in-room safe was set vertically inside the cupboard and was awkward to use, while the wardrobe was more decorative than useful. In room 505, the upper part of the bathroom door had no glass panel and was left open, so toilet odours could spread into the room. That was uncomfortable and unhygienic. We stayed four nights, on 24th and 27th February and 1st and 2nd March 2026. Since the stay was prepaid, we felt stuck with it. Otherwise, I would have moved elsewhere. On arrival, our first room, 406, was in very poor shape. The wooden floor was visibly worn, the sheer curtains that had once been white were brown with age and neglect, the sink drained badly, and the air conditioner was missing its flaps. After we raised these problems, we were promptly moved to the much better, large three-bed family room 706. We had to check out of it for our night in Sapa, though, and were assigned room 705 when we returned. As someone on vacation, I want to dress well, feel confident, and take nice photos. A full-length mirror is a basic facility, not a luxury. Our overnight cruise in Halong Bay had one cleverly fitted to the bathroom door, without taking up extra space, and the difference in standards between the boat cabin and this hotel was striking. After coming back from Halong Bay, we were allocated room 505. The staff did respond to the mirror request, which I appreciated, but the other problems left us disappointed. From room upkeep and amenities to service etiquette, basic hospitality standards were missing. Hospitality is about reliably providing everyday comforts with grace and professionalism, and this place fell short.

The location was great, just a short walk from the lake, and the staff were lovely and accommodating. We got upgraded to a beautiful new room with a balcony. Both the room and bathroom were very clean, and the bed was super comfortable. Great price, too. I’d recommend staying here!

After our long flight, the early check-in was such a help, especially since we’d booked the room at the last minute. The staff were kind, spoke English, and breakfast was yummy. Our room had no windows, but we knew that when we booked the last available room. It was okay, and at least it was quiet. I’d definitely recommend this hotel! 😊

Breakfast on the 9th floor was satisfying, with basic Asian and Western options, about 5-6 kinds of fruit and 5 different vegetables, plus soup. But the night was awful. I asked for the quiet side of the hotel and got noise instead. If you request a silent room while booking, don’t expect a reply. When you arrive, you may get the noisiest room. The drilling started at midnight. They called it an “emergency,” but the tiles had already been hacked apart and the channel smell was there before we checked in. They knew what they were doing and didn’t warn us they’d be running a construction site above us while we were trying to sleep. We had to be up at dawn to leave. I’m not unreasonable, and if this had happened during the day or early evening, I’d have kept quiet. They promised the hammering would stop in 30 minutes, but I wasn’t holding my breath after the lies so far. Nearly an hour later, the hammering was still going, though the drilling had stopped. Sleep was a luxury we didn’t have. Please tell guests about this kind of work in advance, and answer their requests. If something like this happens, take the loss for a day and offer a full refund. Be professional instead of greedy, so guests can prepare for the noise and smell or book somewhere else if they need quiet. The description should say if a room faces the main road and has high noise levels at night.

My partner’s father was stranded in Vietnam because of the war. We booked him six nights here while waiting for evacuation flights and trying to understand what would happen next. The hotel refused to give him the room because his visa expired two days after his stay began. They wouldn’t even let him stay for the two days it was still valid, and told him to go to the immigration office to extend it. The office said it would be better to move to another country, since they couldn’t process it at that time. He had to travel to Thailand and couldn’t stay at the hotel. The hotel won’t refund us under any circumstances and won’t offer alternative dates for a few months later, when we return to Vietnam. Please stay away from this place and don’t book there.
