I’m changing my original five-star rating because of the owner’s unprofessional behavior. I don’t recommend this place to women traveling alone. After unwanted touching, I no longer felt safe and checked out a day early. I didn’t even ask for a refund. I’ve kept my earlier comments below because the facilities were good, despite the person running the hostel. When I arrived, the owner was accommodating. I’d booked a 24-bed dorm online, but they no longer had that room, so I took the cheapest option, a 12-bed dorm, for about $6 a night. It was even better than the 24-bed dorm. The price included clean, renovated facilities, breakfast from 7 to 9 a.m., and Wi-Fi on every floor. The rooms had air conditioning, and the storage locker was big enough for my 50L backpack, with room for another one. It came with a sturdy lock, so I felt I could explore the city without worrying about my belongings. There were loads of food and drink options nearby, almost overwhelming in number. Since the hostel is in a busy part of the Old Quarter, it could get noisy around midnight when I was trying to sleep. It was good value for the price. The hostel also offered advice and sales for tours, from day trips to luxury cruises.

The dorms are okay and breakfast was good, but the bathrooms were dirty at times. The hostel gets extremely noisy until 1 or 2 a.m., with heavy bass, so stay only if you’re looking to party. Staff pushed tours, though I can’t speak to their quality since we booked elsewhere. Luggage storage costs 2 euros per piece each night. You can find better value on the same street.

The complimentary breakfast was good, but the welcome from staff was cold. I had trouble with my locker because the key wouldn’t open it. Breakfast came with a persistent bad smell of warm beer, apparently from the spills that built up overnight. On the fourth floor, the dorm gets the full force of the bass all night. Earplugs are a good idea. There’s better quality for the same price on the street.

We got there early, but they let us into clean rooms. There’s a bar out front, and it’s a good spot if you want to drink, since the rooms are just upstairs. You can hear the parties below, and I found the bathroom and restroom layout confusing. They also struggled with orders and brought us the wrong food. Still, it’s cheap if you’re on a tight budget.

The place was clean and okay to stay in, but it didn’t feel as familiar as the photos made it seem. I wouldn’t book tours through the owner. I suspect they may choose options that give them the highest commission. On our tour, instead of hiking we spent three days sitting in a car, and instead of staying with locals we ended up at a hotel.
