Hilton Hanoi Opera

The rooms were a generous size, and everyone spoke English very well and answered all my questions. It’s an older hotel, but I was very happy with my stay. The price felt about right for upscale accommodation in the area, maybe a little lower, and it was well worth it. Its best feature is the location, right in Old Quarter and within walking distance of many of the city’s best spots. The only downside was the executive lounge being closed. Hopefully it opens again soon.

The furnishings are a bit dated, but they’re kept in very good shape. The bar’s sweet tea options are well worth trying. Staff were helpful and accommodating, and the location was good, with decent food choices and attractions within walking distance. Some parts of the hotel were closed or had limited service because of the pandemic, but that didn’t materially affect the stay. I’d return if I make it back to Hanoi.

After three weeks travelling around SE Asia, this was by far the best breakfast buffet we came across, not even close. The rooms are a little dated, as others have said, but the staff’s care and the cleanliness more than make up for that. The team looked after us really well, especially Son, who went above and beyond. A very good hotel experience.

I’ve liked this old hotel for more than 20 years, and it’s still a favorite. The rooms are spacious, clean, and quiet, with a bathtub, and the central location is a real plus. Still, it needs a thorough renovation soon if it’s going to meet guests’ expectations. The pool closes at 6:00 PM. Its bottom needs cleaning, and the water should be colder. I hope to return.
