La Mejor Hotel & Sky Bar Hotel

We arrived in Hanoi after three days in Ho Chi Minh and two in Da Nang during our family’s eight-day Vietnam trip. Le Mejor Hotel and Sky Bar made a lovely stop. It’s right by Beer Street, which was buzzing like a carnival on the weekend, and the lakefront, spas, bars and souvenir shops are all easy to reach on foot. Our room was spacious, comfortable and nicely equipped, with extra bathrobes and slippers, and the bathroom was neat. Breakfast had a huge choice of food and fruit, plus a hot omelette station. The restaurant team were pleasant and helpful. A special thanks to Ms. Dieu Anh at reception. Though check-in was at 2:30 pm, she let us leave our bags at 9 am, and she was cheerful and thoughtful again when we checked out at 8 am for our two-day cruise. Everyone on staff was respectful and kind. We had a great stay and would recommend it to anyone visiting Hanoi.

We stayed five days and four nights, and the staff made us feel very well looked after. When I got sick after our trip from SAPA, Ms Trang remembered what I liked at breakfast and even brought a meal up to my room. The restaurant team were friendly, quick and efficient, and the reception staff, especially Ms Anh and her team, were warm and attentive. The bellhops were polite and helpful too. The hotel team also showed real care when I was ill and when our friend was hospitalized. The hotel sits on a busy Hanoi street, handy for food and shopping. Breakfast was good, though it could get repetitive over a longer stay. A rotating menu or even one different hot dish during the week might help. Still, we appreciated the hospitality and quality service from everyone at La Mejor Hotel. We enjoyed our visit and hope to return, with more of Vietnam left to explore.

Clean rooms, smiling and helpful staff, and a spot right by the Old Quarter pub street. Hoan Kiem lake and King Roti Hàng Gai are both an easy walk away. A great pick if you want nightlife and sights close by.

The rooms were the letdown for us. The first had a mouldy smell, although the staff handled the problem professionally and moved us without hesitation. The replacement had a larger bed, which was nice, but only a bath with a shower, and that setup with a curtain doesn’t feel suitable for a 4-star hotel. The rooms need an upgrade if the hotel wants to compete with other 4-star places. We’ve stayed at others on this trip, and the room quality and general standard here felt noticeably behind. Breakfast was basic and average, and the bar prices seemed very high. We’re travelling for our anniversary and my husband’s 40th birthday, so this stay mattered to us. The hotel’s location is excellent, and the staff were friendly, helpful and accommodating. We appreciated the service, but the room condition, breakfast and prices were disappointing for the rating we expected.
