Lighthouse & Rooftop

The room had no view, but it was clean and a decent size, and the bathroom was larger than what I’ve seen in other hotels at this level. Apart from the bed being a little hard, I had a comfortable stay and no particular problems. The staff were very helpful, though the reception area is small. The hotel is west of Hanoi Station, behind it, and can be a bit difficult to find since it’s a local place. The exterior looks quite different from the photos and feels dated. They only take cash. There’s a room tour video on YouTube, searchable under hakurepo(Hakurepo) or the hotel’s name.

We tried a few places in Hanoi before settling on this one as our favorite. It’s in a good spot that’s still quiet, with clean rooms and friendly staff.

I wouldn’t stay here again. Before booking, check how far the hotel is from the places you want to visit. It’s outside the pickup area for hotel collection on group tours, and the meeting points are over a 20-minute walk away. You may need to leave early and walk there in the heat. There’s no local information or offer to arrange tours or taxis, and in all my travels around Vietnam this was the only place where the receptionist didn’t even look up when I came in or went out. The room itself was large and looked over a local street where children play at night and scooters cut through from the early hours. The balcony was too small to sit on. There’s no daily room service, and the so-called rooftop bar seemed out of operation, just a little seating area. The photos make it look welcoming, lit up, and lovely, but in reality it’s more like a neglected yard with some tables. Other guest and elevator noise was minimal, which was good. Street noise stopped between 10/11pm and 6am, unlike the Old Quarter, where it goes on around the clock.

Great spot, a nice rooftop, and really engaging, cool staff. Close to the TS. See you again.
