Little Diamond Hotel

The location in the heart of the Old Quarter is convenient, and breakfast is filling, even if the choices are limited. But the hotel feels worn out, the staff weren't especially helpful, and our room wasn't cleaned every day. We stayed somewhere much better for less money and wish we'd chosen it instead. We couldn't switch because this booking wasn't refundable.

The location is great, the breakfast is good, and the staff are nice. Apart from that, everything was awful and nothing worked. I stayed for two nights, and it was the worst stay I've had in Vietnam.

The service was very good and everyone was polite. I recommend the place and would definitely book it again. The one distracting thing was a window facing the hallway: whenever people walked past, the light came through it and lit up the room.

Getting there was stressful. I booked through booking.com, but there was a lot of confusion and scam emails and messages about the reservation, including in the booking.com chat. Then the property cancelled just one day before our trip. With so many places already booked because of the prime location, sorting it all out took about three hours. They eventually let us stay at the same price as booking.com, but I wouldn't recommend the experience unless you're very careful about figuring out who's actually messaging you through the booking.com window. Once we were there, the room was a basement economy double with no windows and no exhaust fan or system in the bathroom. Rooms in Hanoi's Old Quarter are small in general, and since we were out most of the day and only slept there, it was okay for us. There were good cupboards, and room service was great. The breakfast was good too, and they helped us with a packed breakfast for our flight. The location is the strongest point. We could walk to train street, find plenty of Vietnamese and Indian food nearby, and explore all the Old Quarter has to offer. I'd recommend it for the location, breakfast, and service, but the booking messages and cancellation made the whole process confusing and stressful.
