The staff made the stay feel warm and welcoming, and breakfast had a nice range of local and Western dishes. The hotel also felt cozy and well cared for. Its location is hard to beat, just steps from Hanoi Railway Station and with the Old Quarter easily reached. My room was modern, clean, and surprisingly quiet for the middle of the city. The bed was comfortable, and the strong air-conditioning was just right after a long day out. A good option for business or leisure.

The room was spacious and clean, with a desk that was handy for using my laptop. There's a gym too. Getting around was easy: Hanoi train station is about a 10-minute walk, and coffee shops, grocery stores, and restaurants are nearby. Breakfast was okay, with plenty of American and Vietnamese options.

I came back to Hanoi for a second visit because I'm considering moving here to teach English, and I wanted to try staying at the Mercure Hanoi La Gare after walking past it before. The service lived up to the high standards. Anh at the front desk was prompt and helpful, and arranged a late checkout for me. Thu was especially on top of things in the busy breakfast room and cafe-bar, making sure guests didn't have to wait. Highly recommended.

We were here for four nights over the new year celebration. The location was convenient, close enough to get to the Old Quarter and the lake, but away from the busiest tourist spots. There are lots of good restaurants nearby. Breakfast was a highlight: the food tasted good, the staff looked after everyone well, and they served hot Vietnamese dishes like Pho and Bun cha, alongside Thai and Korean food. Housekeeping had everything clean each time we came back from exploring.

The stay was comfortable and the location was great. My main concern was the lack of food for vegetarians and vegans. There wasn't a pure vegetarian option through room service or the restaurants, and at breakfast the only pure vegan choice was a rice roll. It would be better if they added some Indian dishes.
