This was my first stay at Movenpick after trying several Accor brands and hotel tiers. On Accor’s site, Movenpick sits in the premium tier alongside Pullman, Novotel, and Mercure, where I’ve also stayed. The Hanoi hotel’s staff felt less warm and less hospitable than those other three, though the building and rooms were good. The service was still better than what I’d expect at a budget brand like Ibis. At Sofitel in Hcmc, staff checked on us and made us comfortable. The welcome fruit and letter for Accor members made the visit feel a little more special. I know those gestures aren’t expensive and are part of hospitality, but they communicate care for members beyond what a regular walk-in guest might receive. A small boutique lodge in Sapa, run by a woman rather than a large company like Accor, gave us a more personal experience. While we waited for our shuttle, the receptionist quietly prepared supper. As we were heading out, he handed over homemade sandwiches and drinks in a paper bag. That kind of thoughtful extra made an impression, and I didn’t get even a hint of it at Hanoi Movenpick. For now, I wouldn’t stay at Movenpick Hanoi again. If I return to Hanoi, I’ll probably try another Accor brand, perhaps M Gallery. I may still try Movenpick Bangkok one day to see whether this is a brand-wide issue or specific to this hotel’s culture. To be clear, none of the staff were rude or offensive to me. This is feedback for a hotel presented as premium. At Ibis, the service would have exceeded what I expected, since I wouldn’t arrive with the same expectations.

We’d planned on three nights at Movenpick Hanoi, and the room, breakfast choices, and pool all made a great first impression. Staff were friendly whenever we spoke with them and offered advice about Hanoi. Then a medical problem meant we had to stay longer. The kindness and compassion from everyone, right up to General Manager Thomas, went far beyond what we expected. They made extending the booking simple, kept checking in during our unplanned extra time, and made sure we were cared for. We’re very grateful to every staff member. They’re a real credit to the hotel, and I can’t recommend it enough.

Lounge 83 had an elegant, welcoming feel, and the pool brought a Miami-inspired touch to central Hanoi, with good food served throughout the day. We also had an outstanding meal at O Macanese, every dish was a treat. The rooms were spacious, beautifully designed, and spotless. Staff were attentive and warm, and the central location made it easy to explore on foot. Breakfast offered a wide and varied selection of high-quality food.

The heated indoor pool and spa are especially welcome in Sa Pa’s cool weather, and the central location makes it easy to get around. Food is another strong point: breakfast and meals at Chic were high quality, and Absinthe Bar is one of the most atmospheric cocktail spots in northern Vietnam. Service was attentive and polished throughout. Designed by Bill Bensley, Hotel de la Coupole – MGallery Sa Pa mixes French haute couture with the color and heritage of Sa Pa’s hill tribes. The rooms are spacious and warm, with luxurious bathrooms, good soundproofing, and views of misty mountains or the town. There’s plenty of detail in the decor, but the spaces still feel inviting rather than overwhelming. It feels like a destination in its own right, and one of Vietnam’s most memorable luxury stays.

Breakfast was a highlight, with plenty of Asian and Western choices, fresh pastries, good coffee, and local Vietnamese dishes I especially liked. The welcome tea after my long flight was refreshing, and staff greeted me warmly when I arrived. At Mövenpick Hotel Hanoi Centre, my room was clean, modern, and cozy, with thoughtful details that made it comfortable. The central location made it easy to walk to many well-known places in Hanoi. I had a really pleasant stay and would recommend it to visitors.
