I booked a Superior twin through Agoda, listed as a 30 m2 room with a double bed and a queen bed. Instead, the first room they showed me looked about 25 m2, was much less clean than the Agoda photos, and had a corridor-facing window that wouldn’t close. I know booking photos don’t always match reality, but this was a big difference. I had to carry my heavy luggage back to the entrance desk myself. The next room was under 10 m2 and had no outside window. When I pointed out the mismatch, they said I could get a VIP room if I paid twice as much, since my booking was only for a normal room. After arguing for 20 minutes, they took me to the VIP room. Its facilities were old, the bedroom was around 15-16 m2, and the bathroom was a long, narrow 6 m2 corridor, about 4M x 1.5M, with a lot of useless floor space. I’ve stayed in Hanoi more than 10 times, usually paying $20-$40 for one person, and this was the worst service attitude I’ve encountered there. They wouldn’t offer a discount for their mistake. I contacted Agoda and managed to cancel safely, but the argument with the poor staff cost me an hour. None of the staff could speak a foreign language, including English. You should avoid this place.

The noise kept waking me up at night and in the morning. I could hear people in other rooms too, since the walls are so thin. The room was filthy and smelled awful as soon as I walked in. There was dirt on the floor, hair on the bed, mold in the shower, and damp stains on the walls. It looked nothing like the booking pictures. The receptionist was rude and acted like she didn’t care. My electronic key wouldn’t open the room, so I went to ask for help. She started speaking Vietnamese and rolled her eyes. I had to keep insisting before anyone helped me get inside. When I asked for a replacement card, she said all the rooms had the same problem and that I’d have to ask someone to open the door every time.

Review dated 30/11/2024. The rooms were decent, but the staff weren’t as friendly or helpful as at other hotels and Airbnbs. There wasn’t even hand soap, and the Wi-Fi kept cutting out. The deal breaker was being told we couldn’t leave our luggage after checkout, even though our flight wasn’t until five hours later. We had to drag both suitcases around the city.

There was no soap or shampoo, and the Wi-Fi was bad. The room was extremely dirty, with strange stains everywhere and loose hair in the bed. A huge mold patch on the ceiling came with a foul smell of mold and chemicals. Nothing looked like the pictures on the website. Our room card didn’t work, but the receptionist was rude and clearly annoyed when I asked for help. She scoffed and rolled her eyes, and the staff didn’t help us with the problem.

There’s plenty around the hotel, including a supermarket, street food, a railway station, railway coffee, gardens, ponds, and lots more. The room was spacious and clean. It’s an underrated hotel, and I’d recommend staying here if you’re in Hanoi.
