I arrived in Hanoi on an evening flight and went to the hotel I’d booked, only to be told they had no reservation for me and couldn’t check me in. The hotel canceled because of its own circumstances. With COVID-19 going on, I suspect they didn’t want to host me because I’m a foreigner, though I can’t be sure. They couldn’t speak English and just gave me taxi fare, telling me to go elsewhere. I was left in an unfamiliar place late at night with a lot of luggage, which was a huge hassle. I found another hotel and am now trying to get back the prepaid accommodation fee through the booking site. It seems they don’t keep track of reservations made there. I definitely wouldn’t recommend this place. Disgusting.

I booked through Booking for 200,000, and they said okay when I arrived. After three days, they charged me 900,000 and said Booking had nothing to do with it. The owner is rude and dishonest. The room was dirty, the bathroom filthy, and the AC was broken. When I asked for the room to be cleaned, they used an old towel. I asked to switch rooms and they wanted another 50,000. After the cleaning, a bottle of perfume worth nearly one million was gone. I asked about it, and they flatly denied taking it. I’m done with this place for good.

The price kept going up: it was listed at 150,000 VND, staff quoted me 200,000 VND, then charged 250,000 VND when I paid. The rooms were run-down and the staff were unpleasant.
