ROSE Villas & Resort - Ba Vi

There isn't much of quality to do nearby, apart from driving out to Ba Vì to hike if you have a car. After hiking to the church and prison ruins in the forest, plus the pagodas and Uncle Ho’s temple, the area felt uneventful, so I'm not sure we'd return. The room was spacious and good, and the pool was okay if you went early. By late afternoon it smelled of urine. Staff were friendly. Breakfast wasn't special from a western perspective. There were lots of juices but no coffee, the first time I've seen that in Vietnam. There's also a small cafe on site for gold drinks, though prices are a little high. I'd suggest buying drinks and snacks in advance to bring to the villa. Nice to try once.

The villa felt old and deteriorated, with poor interior design and furnishings, damp walls and ceiling, a smelly kitchen cupboard, and mosquitoes in the bedrooms. There were no living-room curtains, so guests in neighboring villas could unexpectedly see each other. There was no privacy. We spent last weekend here after consulting Tico Travel, whose staff gave us wrong information about the swimming pool, jacuzzi pool, and other things. They said there was a basketball yard, but there was only a basket. The pool was much smaller than described, and had sharp items at the bottom. There was nothing outdoors for seeing or playing except one bia table. Guests sang karaoke loudly in the restaurant and villas at night. This place isn't worth the money or time for a weekend. I don't recommend booking hotels, villas, or resorts through Tico, based on this bad experience with their unprofessional, wrong, and untrustworthy information and consultation.

We booked villas for two nights, and the booking was confirmed, but that didn't help us at all. The reception was empty, with nobody there except the security person. We were with our children and had come from far away. The organization was bad, and I'd not recommend this hotel if you don't want your vacation canceled.

A nice place to relax, with tasty food at reasonable prices. The swimming pool is wonderful, even though it's small.
