I paid 1.2 mil vnd for one night, about $45, and the room was tiny. When my friend and I arrived later in the day, the receptionist, Sinh, asked for my room number and said my friend couldn't come upstairs. He pulled out the contract I'd signed, which listed one person per room. I asked if my friend could come up briefly to get something, then go back down. Sinh said he had to stay in the lobby. I asked about switching to a bigger room, but Sinh said I'd have to book another room. I used to work in hospitality, so I understand enforcing a hotel policy. My issue was the way Sinh handled it: he didn't apologize or explain that it was hotel policy or that he couldn't do anything. He immediately pointed to the one-person limit and my signature, looking at us as if we were trying to scam the hotel. I've had better service at a hotel costing 300k vnd per night.

We never stayed at Sakura Hotel, but their service was already amazing before we arrived in Hanoi. My family and I wanted to find a public bath to use after our flight, so I emailed them. They let me know that the women's bath was under repair at the time of my enquiry in June 2025. They even went out of their way to find a public bath service for me. I can only imagine how well they look after guests staying at the hotel.

The breakfast is what really won me over, especially the salmon set, which was awesome, and there were lots of choices. I also liked being able to use the Japanese-style hot spring and sauna, then have breakfast afterward. It made the place feel a bit like Japan. The hotel is Japanese-owned and sits on Kim ma, a street with plenty of Japanese restaurants.

The bed and bathroom felt much like what you'd find in a hotel in Japan. The problem was the Wi-Fi: during my stay, it kept failing to connect, apparently because so many hotel guests were using it. Please improve it.

There are lots of Japanese restaurants and supermarkets nearby, and the breakfast has plenty of Japanese set meal options. It feels like staying in Japan, and the place seems mainly geared toward Japanese guests.
