Silk Castle Hotel & Spa

The bathroom layout was terrible. A cold shower sent water all over the toilet, toilet paper, sink, and garbage can, and the hot water didn’t work. The room itself was cramped, humid, and smelly, with mold and damage throughout. The walls had dents and looked like they were deteriorating. The air conditioning was broken, the sink clogged, the sandals were ripped and mismatched, and there was hair and dust on the blanket in the closet. I checked under the bed and found half-empty water bottles, so it didn’t look like the room had been made up. Electrical wires were hanging out of the wall. The staff weren’t friendly. When we raised the problems, the person said he’d check, then told us they were fixed when they weren’t. We stayed just one night, and I woke up covered in bug bites. If cleanliness, friendly service, and comfort matter to you, avoid this place. I’d give it zero stars if I could. It’s the worst hospitality business I’ve stayed in, and I can’t understand its high rating.

The location is excellent, the rooms are basic, and the Wi-Fi is pretty good. You can stand up fully in the showers. One thing I didn’t like: when you leave, the power shuts off, and you can’t use another card to keep the air conditioning and fridge running. That makes the fridge pretty useless.

Silk Castle Hotel is in Hanoi’s Old Quarter, with lots of places within walking distance, but the hotel itself is calm and comfortable. The rooms were clean, well kept, and comfortable, and the value for money was outstanding. The warm, attentive staff made the stay memorable. Pepper and Bee were especially wonderful. They helped with recommendations and arrangements, went out of their way to make me feel welcome, and clearly cared about making my stay a good one. I’d happily stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Hanoi.

The location was great and the service was nice, but both rooms were warm and noisy. The first felt like a sauna, and I was sweating within minutes. They moved me to another room, but it was still hot and loud. Glad I only stayed one night.
