Thang Long Hotel

We had a confirmed room booked, but when we arrived they said it was "under maintenance." They claimed the work had started that morning, so we couldn't stay. I can promise there was no maintenance going on. This doesn't seem legit. Please avoid this hotel.

2024, 3 stars: They could separate smoking and non-smoking rooms. At times I could smell someone smoking, probably in the room next door. Maybe one floor could be non-smoking and another for smoking. The AC stopped working sometimes, but staff were helpful and fixed it. There was a price list in the room this time, so it was clear that the food items inside cost extra. I checked in at 2 pm without any issue. 2022, 1 star: Watch out, it felt like a double trap. They let us check in before the stated time, then said we had to pay an early check-in fee, without telling us in advance. The same thing happened with the food and drinks in the room. We thought they were free, then staff checked the room, counted what we'd used, and charged us for everything.

After a long flight, I arrived at the hotel and was told there was no room because I hadn't shown up by check-in time. I never received any message about that rule or asking whether I was still coming. They should at least have contacted me when they cancelled my booking. Cancelling it without notice or even checking with me is shameful. What kind of hotel does that? 👎

We booked through a booking site, and the hotel confirmed our arrival time, then confirmed it again an hour before we got there. At reception, though, they said they had no rooms left. In short, they'd overbooked us. We arrived late at night, but still within check-in hours, and had to hunt for another place to sleep. That was really difficult and unpleasant. This feels like a trap hotel, be careful.
