The Pilgrim Hotel

The staff were friendly, and it was an easy walk to the old town. We could also use the minibar for free, including the Coke, water, and beer. Still, the hotel felt very old and dirty. The online image suggested a high-class place, but the furniture was old, the bathroom was dirty, and the standard overall was low. Even taking a shower was an experience, and the sink drained poorly. We paid €178 for one night in a room for three, which felt wildly overpriced for Hanoi and frankly rude. We booked because there were few choices left for that date: a large festival was happening in Hanoi that weekend, and 98% of hotels were already booked. We wouldn’t book here again.

The location is ideal, right beside the cathedral and very central. The service was amazing, and the staff were so helpful. Miss Lee and Trang especially went out of their way to answer our questions about Hanoi and tours.

We needed a room at the last minute, and the staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating. They upgraded us so we could check in straight away and have a shower. The room was basic, but had everything we needed.

The price made the poor value especially disappointing. The room was small, dated, and not well maintained, with cheap-feeling furnishings and questionable cleanliness. I expected a much higher standard for what I paid. The staff were polite, but the service felt average. They didn’t seem interested in doing extra to make the stay pleasant, and simple requests like luggage help or local suggestions got little effort. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel unless the rooms and staff attentiveness improve considerably. There are better choices at this price.
