Western Hanoi Boutique Hotel

Horrible experience. I’d never recommend this place. They said they’d found tiny stains on a towel the day before, then told me a day later that they couldn’t be cleaned. When I asked to see them, Quyet didn’t understand a word of English, said the stains weren’t there, and kept harassing me to pay the full replacement cost. He also claimed I hadn’t been in the room. When I asked to see the footage, he muted the conversation. The cleaning lady came in without permission. Horrendous.

I’ll never stay here again and wouldn’t recommend it. There were five or six cockroaches as soon as I entered my room on the third floor. I asked to move, and the staff member was helpful and put me in another room, which he said was their best and biggest. It had a kitchen and living room, but the sofa had hair and lots of yellow stains that grossed me out. I was already skeptical of the bedroom, and sure enough, another cockroach was crawling across the glass door between the living room and bedroom. I figured changing rooms again wouldn’t fix anything since this was supposed to be the best room, so I stayed. Around 3 a.m., a mosquito kept me awake for the rest of the night.

I was impressed by the leaflet listing famous Hanoi street food, including some places that still seem fairly untouched by tourists. The breakfast wasn’t impressive, though. The room itself was spacious, clean, and equipped with everything I needed for a short stay.

I got to the hotel very late four days ago, but the receptionist still gave me a really nice welcome. Breakfast was served well, and I loved how beautiful my room was.
