The room was a surprise: more like an apartment than a hotel or guesthouse room, clean and spacious, with a kitchen, wardrobe, and a large bed. It had a refrigerator, microwave, electric kettle, rice cooker, and tableware. There was also a table and desk in front of the bedroom. The Wi-Fi was strong and the air conditioning cold. The bathroom felt luxurious, with a large tub you could fill and soak in, plus hand wash, liquid soap, and shampoo. There was no shower, though, which was the hardest part. I couldn't stand upright to wash, and washing my hair was even more difficult. I'd suggest the owner install a shower so the stay feels complete. The place is completely self-service. From arrival to departure I never saw any staff or the owner. Someone messaged me the day before to confirm my arrival time, then on arrival day this invisible guy sent a simple PDF guide on finding the house, getting in, and locating my room. I suggest having one or two popular messaging apps for contact, like WhatsApp. He sent me the main door code, and I got to my room without trouble. It's tucked into an alley where local people live, just a short walk from the main road, lined with food outlets, shops, and massage spas. Ben Thanh metro station and Central Market are a 15-20 minute walk away. When I told the landlord I wanted to pay, he just said to leave cash on the table when I left. I've still never seen him. What if a guest forgets the cash, or deliberately leaves without paying? The outside doesn't look like accommodation, and there's no sign. Overall, I had a nice experience. If you're independent, value privacy, and are comfortable with technology and self-service, it may be worth considering. If you want a smiling face, a warm spoken welcome, and a little small talk, you'd better skip it.
