Indochine Ben Thanh Hotel & Apartments

Poor sound insulation made the stay worse: corridor light came through the door frame, and housekeeping noise started early in the morning. We reported a door problem, but nobody came to fix it. The hotel felt badly managed and short on basic hospitality. The location doesn’t make up for the service. At check-in, we arrived just 15 minutes early, but receptionist Tuyen made us wait until the exact check-in time, with no flexibility or courtesy. Tuyen was rude and dismissive, and showed no respect for guests. One of my worst hotel experiences. Avoid this place.

For a great location and a super affordable price, this is a great hotel. My trip highlight was spending hours late at night chatting on the front porch with Vinh, one of the staff, while he worked overnight security. He was so chill and helpful. I’ll miss you, brother!

On our last day, we were at the immigration office trying to get the exit visa my brother needed to leave, but the hotel had not registered him at the property. He nearly missed his flight home, and we had to go to the police to find another way. The front desk staff were very unhelpful and refused to assist, even after my mother begged. Before checking in, my brother had lost his passport but had a police report confirming the loss, and we were arranging an emergency travel document. The hotel accepted the letter and let him check in. On the second day, they even photographed his passport details from a phone. But the missing registration caused a serious problem when we needed to leave.

A comfortable, clean room for a good price, in a great location. Across the road, Amazing Coffee is worth a stop for tasty egg coffee and a ham and cheese croissant, and to meet the amazingly fluffy Múp (pictured) 😻
