La Bonita Hotel & Apartments

SCAM ALERT! Don't be fooled by the fake good ratings. They cancel confirmed bookings when you arrive. I came for NYE and was told there was no room. This looks like a predatory way to resell rooms at higher rates. Staff were unhelpful, and it happened to many other guests at the same time. Don't trust the "confirmed" status. They'll leave you stranded!

The rooms match the prices, breakfast is a tasty western style, and the location puts you right in the middle of the action in district 7. Staff are helpful and speak very good English. When my laptop struggled to pick up the hall WiFi signal, though the iPhone was fine, receptionist Thanh arranged to have a WiFi router put in my room. Now the connection is perfect. She helped me with so many things, and if I owned a hotel, I'd want her at the desk. It's a lovely place and will always be my “go to hotel” in Ho Chi Min City. The staff were good and tried to help, but there were no other rooms available. On my earlier stay I was on the top floor and couldn't hear the loud bar downstairs. This time I stayed on the first floor and could hear the pounding noise. Both times, guests were loud, slammed doors through the night, and talked loudly in the halls, waking other people. I won't mention the nationality of these rude, loud guests. You can guess.

Free laundry was a first for me, and so convenient: leave dirty clothes in a basket and they're cleaned and folded by evening. I'd pick this over fancier, higher-end hotels. The location is great, right in the Korean town hotspot with loads of food options nearby. The room also came with a frig and kitchen.
