Northern Charm Hotel

The room we got was smaller than the park-view room we booked, and the street noise was constant. The air conditioning barely worked, so the room felt hotter than outdoors. At check-in, they made us wait an hour and a half after we were told it would be 20 minutes, which we had already pointed out was not true. At checkout, a mistake about a late checkout meant we left the room later than planned. They only called once it was already too late, then charged us a heavy fee. It seemed fine for them to keep guests waiting since the booking was already paid for. Communication was very unfriendly whenever they weren't making money from us or it wasn't in their interest. There was no flexibility or understanding, and Asians seemed to get better treatment than non-Asians.

Everyone on the hotel team was so warm and attentive, and the whole staff acted very professionally. My wife and I were welcomed exceptionally well, and they even gave me a cake for my birthday. I really appreciated how kind they were and how carefully they handled our needs and requests.

I wasn't even allowed in to wait briefly while my friends got ready to go out. Apparently, even a short visit from a friend means paying an extra overnight fee. That visitor rule feels far too strict and unwelcoming, especially when many luxury hotels with higher standards don't have restrictions like this. Keep it in mind if you're considering a stay, since the service can feel inconvenient and unfriendly.

The hotel manager didn't seem very understanding, and the whole situation was a real disappointment. We had booked the wrong date and called the hotel straight away. They told us the date had been changed, but when we arrived, they said no change had been made and denied receiving the call. We ended up paying twice, which caused a lot of inconvenience.
