Papaya Saigon Central Hotel

The staff were amazing, super friendly and genuinely helpful. Akoya is a clean, fresh-feeling place with good value for money, right in the heart of the city. Ho Chi Minh City is right outside, but the rooms were still nice and quiet. We could walk to everything we wanted to see. Our windowless room had everything I needed, but it was quite small for two, so I wouldn’t suggest it if you expect to spend much time in the hotel. I had a fantastic stay.

I paid VND700K a night, about SGD$35, with breakfast included. I was there on my own, and the Budget Double Room was fine as a comfortable place to rest and shower. It came with shampoo, body shampoo, hair conditioner, a toothbrush and paste, and a hair dryer. The location is very convenient. Within a 10-minute walk there are lots of local food places, restaurants, bars, coffee shops, and convenience stores. It should suit couples and solo travelers, but the rooms are small for a family.

I really enjoyed staying here, and would recommend it. The hotel has a nice feel, and the staff are caring and smiling. It was always pleasant passing through reception. Ben Thanh market is only a 3-minute walk away. The hotel is clean and well equipped, with a basic but clean room, a nice bathroom, and plenty of hot water. The room was well lit, which was such a joy. The towels were clean, though they had seen better days. Breakfast was the one thing I’d change. It was limited, especially for vegetarians. I wish there were more fruit and cooked vegetarian dishes.

The hotel is great value for money, and I was surprised to find staff who spoke Japanese. It felt comforting to talk in my native language. The room was stylish and clean, and the hotel had all the essentials. Sightseeing spots, shops, and restaurants were easy to get to. There were no pajamas, so bring your own. I didn’t have any major concerns, though breakfast options were a little limited and I could hear noise from other rooms and the corridor through the thin walls. Those things weren’t a big problem.
