The people here made a real difference. Quynh, Huy, and Thao were kind, attentive, and interesting to talk to, and I felt like I’d made friends by the end of my stay. I started on the 14th and was here for Tet, Vietnamese Lunar New Year, plus a few days after the official New Year’s Eve. The location made it easy to get around on foot. Bui Vien Walking street was lively at night, Saigon Center had lots of shopping, including my favorite, Muji, and there were local eateries, Jimmy's Pizza, Tomatitos for Spanish tapas, unique boutiques, and a fun cocktail spot along the main road. My first room had a bathtub and enough space for me and my partner. Its view looked onto the main street outside the hotel. For the second half, I moved to the top floor. It felt a little scary at first, but the view over the main road and park was really nice. There were lots of windows, so the room was bright, but could also be darkened. I wasn’t a fan of the shower in that room.

I’m writing this as a serious warning about safety and how the hotel handled what happened to me. From 11:00am until 3:00pm, I was stuck in the bathroom because the doorknob had been installed incorrectly and wouldn’t open from inside. I had no phone and couldn’t contact anyone. I’m claustrophobic, and spent four hours having severe panic attacks, screaming, shouting, and banging on the door. I was due to check out at 12:00pm, so at first I expected a cleaner or staff member to come. Nobody did, which left me questioning the housekeeping and safety standards. Staff later admitted they heard me screaming but ignored it because they assumed it was something else and didn’t investigate. A man across the hall eventually alerted reception, and I dread to think how long I’d have been trapped without him. In desperation, I broke a small window so I could breathe and get help. I was traumatised, and my arms and hands were injured from hitting the door. No staff member apologised or showed concern. They only focused on possible damage. The next morning, staff demanded payment for the night I’d been trapped as well as extra nights, saying they were doing me a favour by not charging for damages. They blamed me and said the doorknob had broken during my stay, though it was clearly fitted the wrong way around, a maintenance fault. When I refused to pay, a receptionist said she would take my passport if I didn’t. That is completely illegal. She stood with one foot inside my room, looking through my belongings in an intimidating way, and said she couldn’t “feed her family” if I didn’t pay. As a solo female traveller, I felt extremely unsafe and left immediately on my family’s advice. The room was filthy despite costing over £200 for four nights and being sold as a deluxe room. There was mould and stained walls, and cleanliness was poor. Both rooms had sex chairs and large mirrors. After I was moved, I found two condom packets left behind, which raised serious hygiene concerns. I was left traumatised, without empathy, blamed for the hotel’s negligence, and threatened over money. The receptionist was named Thao. She had seemed friendly at first, then became hostile when I stood up for myself. Please stay away for your safety. Edit: In response to the hotel’s comment below, they are lying. Their lack of cleanliness and concern for guests’ welfare shows that standards and service aren’t a priority. I shouted VERY loudly from the moment I got trapped and was ignored for hours. Please don’t believe this disgrace of a business. I wouldn’t make such a big deal of this if it weren’t so serious. I’m only trying to warn people to stay away.

The location was a real plus, with local markets and some major sights a short walk away, so I could wander around and take in the local feel without going far. The staff were warm, friendly, and glad to help with directions or arranging transport, which added a personal touch. It’s a straightforward, comfortable place for a short trip. My room was clean and had the essentials, and the price felt fair. Nothing fancy, but it suited a short stay. There’s no airport transfer, though getting a Grab was easy, convenient, and affordable. A good choice if you want a simple stay somewhere handy, with kind service.

I’m concerned about a possible scam and a leak of personal information. I booked Quy Hung Hotel through Agoda, where payment was supposed to be handled. But someone claiming to be from the hotel contacted me several times on WhatsApp asking for more money than the Agoda booking amount. The contacts came from India and the US, not Vietnam. They knew my name and personal details, which should only have been available to Agoda or hotel staff. Think carefully before booking if you don’t want your information exposed or to pay extra money you weren’t expecting.

My colleague and I had booked rooms at Benh Thanh Station hotel for 6-8 Nov 2025, but its staff said there was a problem with our rooms and transferred us here. I stayed on the 7th Floor at Quy Hung Hotel. The room was very old and unclean, with lots of ants. The shower was the worst part: the water pressure was so weak that it didn’t work properly, and I had to lie on the toilet floor and use the lower tap to wash. I told a staff member, but she just said she was sorry and did nothing.
