The service at the front desk was excellent, and checkout at midday felt relaxed, without the rush I’ve had at other places. The property is a bit dated but lovely, right in the heart of District 1. The serviced apartments are spacious and work well for longer stays with family. There’s a big kitchen and lounge, laundry, plenty of storage in each room, and UK wall sockets throughout. The standout facilities for travelers are the deep lap pool, probably the biggest we’ve seen in Vietnam, and the extensive 24-hour gym. A well-stocked convenience store downstairs and an off-street driveway also made things feel safe for families and helped us stay out of the humid, damp weather. There’s a sizable kids’ playroom with a climbing wall suited to children up to about five. Older kids may find it limited, but it’s still a safe place to play and explore. I’d strongly recommend the property for longer stays, especially for fitness-minded business travelers and families who want room and accessibility.
When I lost my mobile phone during my trip in Vietnam, I was stressed and worried as a foreign traveler. Nhan helped by translating and communicating with the local authorities and others involved. He patiently coordinated things and kept following up until my phone was returned. His professionalism, dedication, and kindness meant a lot to me. Ken was attentive and supportive throughout, helping me feel safe and reassured. Their help felt sincere and compassionate during a difficult moment. The room was spacious, very clean, and comfortable, and the location was convenient for both work and leisure. I’m grateful to Somerset Chancellor Court Ho Chi Minh City and the whole team for the wonderful hospitality. Thank you to Nhan and Ken for their care. I’d happily recommend the hotel to anyone visiting Ho Chi Minh City.
I’ve stayed at Somerset Chancellor Court HCM many times, and Chloe, Wendy, Karen, and the new guy at the front desk always make me and my family feel welcome and looked after. Duyen in housekeeping and the two other staff working with her also took good care of us, though I didn’t get their names. This trip I tried booking breakfast with the room for the first time. It was provided by a contracted vendor next door and was Japanese-style, with very few choices. It wasn’t the lavish spread you’d expect at a four- or five-star hotel. I wouldn’t recommend it, and won’t add breakfast to a booking again.
The location was fantastic, about a 20-minute walk from the main city center. It was close enough to restaurants and attractions, yet far enough away for some quiet at night. The staff were accommodating and friendly, and when we mentioned our luggage was lost in transit, they brought extra supplies like a razor, comb, and dental kit. We appreciated that. We booked a two-bedroom executive apartment, and I was surprised by how spacious it was. It had a great kitchen, two toilets, a bathroom with a shower bath, a washer and dryer, and a small workstation by the living and dining area. The apartment was clean and tidy, though a little outdated inside, and had all the necessities. The complex also has a pool, BBQ area, gym, kids’ space, restaurant, and a mini mart connected to it, next to Phuc Long.
A few streets north of the soc-called Japanese Quarter, this Western-style hotel and apartment complex was a great find. It’s near a mix of dining, shopping malls, the main tourist market, and several major museums and sights. The comfortable rooms have kitchenettes and washer-dryers, and there’s a convenience store on the ground floor for groceries and forgotten essentials. Upstairs on the mezzanine are a large pool, a well-equipped gym, and a sauna. The place felt secure and was well maintained. During our visit the outside facade was being refreshed and pavement work was happening, but staff kept the disruption to a minimum. Check-in was easy, reception was efficient, and the team communicated well before we arrived. The door security staff were helpful, and daily room service was better than expected. My room, 706, had a lingering smell for the first few days, apparently from someone cooking noodles heavily before I arrived, and it took a while to clear. The rest of the cleanliness was evident throughout.
