We stayed two nights at 140B bach dang. The room was spacious, but it was on the sixth floor and the lift only went as high as the fifth, so all our luggage had to be taken up the stairs. The security man wheeled each bag along the stairs instead of carrying it. I wish the hotel had told us about this beforehand so we could decide accordingly. The hotel is on a one way street where taxis and Grab cars wouldn't stop outside for pickup or drop-off. We had to cross a very busy road with lots of luggage, which felt risky. The payment was the worst part. We owed 820K. I handed over 1M and was first given only 120K change. When I pointed out it was wrong, she gave me 150K, but I expected 180K. She said no because the room had been upgraded to 850K. That was outrageous nonsense. If she'd asked nicely, I would have paid, but don't try to fool me. I definitely won't come back.

I booked the Family room at Thanh Long apartment through Agoda for one night, and the rate seemed very reasonable. I had a good stay, and the apartment is conveniently close to Tan Son Nhat airport. The room was spacious and airy, with a view over the green Gia Dinh park behind it. It had basic appliances and cookware, including a fridge, washing machine, microwave, stove, pots, and knives, so you can cook there. The bed and grap were clean and odor-free. There was a slight smell in the toilet when I first entered, but it went away. One minor inconvenience: the room is on the sixth floor, while the elevator only reaches the fifth. For check-in, go to Thanh Long Hotel about 50m away. The apartment has security but no reception, and the people there were very enthusiastic. I'd rate it 8/10.

There are lots of restaurants and markets nearby, including a tasty Northern-style pho place across the street. The sidewalk is wide enough to park cars. The apartment is clean and quiet, and the 24/7 security is reassuring.
